A college/vocational scholarship program in honor of the late Jahanara Ali was established in 2018. We selected one high school graduate from each of our programs in Katakhali, Natore, and Laksmichamp for continuing education. Ashamoni was selected from Katakhali. She is attending Patuakhali Mahila College. Beauty Akhtar was selected in Laksmichamp. She finished at Nilphamari Government College and in late 2021 received admission to a B.A. program in botany. In 2021, Samhati provided laptop computers to Ashamoni and Beauty so that they could study online while the colleges were closed during the pandemic. Anwara Khatun was selected from Natore and was attending Ranibhavani Mahila College. In 2020, she got married and has a new baby and has decided not to continue college. We are searching for a new scholarship candidate to replace her. Colleges and universities in Bangladesh reopened in October 2021 after being closed for 18 months.

In 2022, we will expand the Jahanara Ali College Scholarship program and provide two scholarships in each program, for a total of six scholarship recipients. The women will be selected based on merit and financial need.
